Gasoline prices crept back below two dollars per gallon across more of western Kentucky and middle Tennessee, but a summer surge should still be expected.

In Paducah, prices range from $1.98 to 2.19 per gallon. It's as low as 1.97 in Murray and 1.99 in Oak Grove. In Nashville, gas can be found for 1.93, and for 1.89 in Clarksville, TN.

Average gas prices in Kentucky fell 1 cent per gallon last week, averaging $2.15 per gallon. This compares with the national average that was basically flat at $2.29 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.

"As oil prices have hit a rough patch in the last two weeks, gasoline prices have stumbled with a majority of states seeing a weekly pull back in retail prices," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.

"While the drop at the pump is welcome, we're nearly guaranteed to see prices rebound in time for Memorial Day and the start of the summer driving season," said DeHaan.
