Kentucky State Police are investigating a Wednesday afternoon accidental shooting involving a Graves County Sheriff's Deputy.
KSP Troopers responded at around 12:45 pm to an apparent accidental shooting at the home of Graves County Sheriff’s Sergeant David Warner. Investigators said Warner returned home at the end of an overtime shift and as he was unloading an off-duty firearm, he accidentally discharged one round, striking his 17-year-old stepdaughter.
Police said the teen was taken by Mayfield Fire and EMS to Baptist Health Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. She was listed in stable condition.
Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reportedly requested that KSP handle the investigation, due to it involving a member of his department.
KSP says their investigation is ongoing.
