Graves County Prostitution Sting Nets 8 Arrests

MAYFIELD, KY - A two-day sting operation conducted by the Investigations Unit with the Graves County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of eight men on prostitution charges.

Investigators began the operation known as “Catch a John” on Wednesday by posting an ad on a well-known website. Investigators immediately began receiving phone calls from men asking for sex in exchange for money.

A female detective, acting in an undercover capacity, spoke with the men and made arrangements to meet them at a local hotel. During the investigation, the “Johns” made agreements to pay the female detective in exchange for sexual acts. The men were taken into custody and then lodged in the Graves County Jail and charged with soliciting prostitution.

Those arrested were 24-year old Mycong Le of Mayfield, 64-year-old David Sullivan of Mayfield, 23-year-old Kyle Steven Ditty of Milton, PA, 56-year-old Gary Grubbs of Glasgow, KY, 47-year-old Anthony Dalton of Paducah, 43-year-old Kevin Skinner of Kevil, 51-year-old Albert Hester of Russellville, AR and 33-year-old Brian Wimberley of Paris, TN.

  PawPaw - I'll look into a reading comprehension and make sure it includes PawPaw Punctuation 101.... if; you kn...ow what I;m talkin about?....NOTE TO SELF - DO NOT ALLOW PAWPAW X TO TEACH MY COMPREHENSION CLASS HIMSELF............... Independent T - I guess they could have miscomprehended an ad, but I'm sure when they were discussing the ingredients to the recipe they included how much each item cost and to what extent it would be mixed.

  Independent - I guess it is possible that this was the first time these guys had solicited sex using a "well known website", but they probably have done this before. They knew where to look and they answered the ad "immediately", per the story. Your diatribe about these "fine upstanding men" of the community is laughable. I would say that if someone doesn't want to be "dragged before the community in a setting of shame and degredation (sic)" that they do not commit crimes. It's fairly plain and simple to understand; commit a crime and stand the chance of getting caught, being charged with a crime, having that charge in the news, being sentenced and serving the time/ paying the fine.

  I still have an issue with promise of sexual activity in exchange for the financial reward when the later castigated and shamed male is demeaned and punished for the rest of his life because of that one lapse of judgement - a judgment that may not have been made if he had not been enticed by the soliciting female. To me it is entrapment pure and simple It is to me, praying on the need for affection and acceptance by one of many lonely males who are easily exploited and entrapped by the premediated agenda of a female predator of sorts. The results? The male is dragged before the community in a setting of shame and degredation, in many cases he is financially ruined, and he is held captive by the barbaric rules laid out in an unforgiving and exploitive court system. Quite often, the sentence is carried out until the time of the man's death. Oh wait, so, sorry, I thought you all were talking about marriage. My bad.

WPSD was once a crown jewel in the proud NBC tiara of nationwide local affiliates. It used to be a recognized major stepping-stone to the mega-metro market news networks/stations that dot the country. No more. Now it's just another jerkwater journalistic joke, that's beholden to it's major advertisers: The Local Medical/Healthcare Industrial Complex. The so-called "news" Local 6 now slops up is - sadly - nothing more than pablum for an entertainment-seeking sheep herd. I watch it when I need either, 1) a good laugh, or 2) a good cry. I laugh at the ridiculous segments like "Will Pets Go To Heaven", by former anchor Paula Bridges, the stupidity of a great big paper ("super") shredder" actually getting television airtime, or the idea that I give 2 poots what some prattler says on Facebook, or the litany of ads for hospitals, nursing homes, pain clinics, physical therapy practices, chiropractic centers, doctors' offices, funeral homes, assisted living centers, walk-in clinics, and - of course - pharmaceuticals. If you're healthy when you start the night's newscast, you're either sick, in pain, incapacitated, or dead, once the "entertainment" from 5-5:30, 6-6:30, and 10-10:30 is through. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The KY law you keep talking about (but fail to actually post for us all to read ourselves) - is KRS 505.010, and it actually says, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . A person is not guilty of an offense arising out of proscribed conduct when, (a) He was induced or encouraged to engage in that conduct by a public servant . . . . seeking to obtain evidence against him for the purpose of criminal prosecution; AND (b) At the time of the inducement or encouragement, he was not otherwise disposed to engage in such conduct. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE STATUTE GOES ON TO SAY: The relief afforded above is unavailable when the public servant . . . . merely affords the defendant an opportunity to commit an offense. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'll leave it to you WKS common-taters to debate the law, but it seems pretty obvious to even an old fart like me that putting a hoochie-coochie ad on the internet just gives thse guys "an opportunity" to commit a crime. When these doofuses actually ANSWER THE AD by calling the phone number, when they arrange the meeting with the faux-pro, when they get in their cars and drive to this meeting, and then when they ** AHEM** negotiate the explicit details of their "service contract" . . . . . . . . . . well, I'm gunna run out on a limb and say that's pretty durn good evidence of someone that's already "predisposed" to commit a crime.   Well, Paw Paw, I never said anything about the Asian guy being discriminated against. I did make mention of the fact that law enforcement used entrapment to lure these guys into a situation that led to their arrest. I think that the entrapment law has either been repealed or is currently being ignored. If these defendants are getting a public defender, then it's not going to matter much whether they were wrongfully arrested or not, they're going to be fined and maybe even spend a few days in jail. A public defender is worth about what you pay for him. Even if one of these guys can afford to hire a lawyer, I'm certain it would cost him a lot more to challenge this in court. Either way, these guys are....well....you know....

James J. argues that since the bottom guy in the photos is Asian, he was the victim of both entrapment AND discrimination.   Merriam-Webster defines entrapment: The action of luring an individual into committing a crime in order to prosecute the person for it. Posting sex for sale on a website is entrapment. These men did commit a crime, but they were lured into it.

  If an ad is posted on a web site, a person reads it and then decides to act on what that ad is advertising; that is not entrapment. If that was true then speed limits would be entrapment as well as stop signs and no tresspassing signs. The person makes a decision to act. Also to those of you that think this is a waste of time and money it actually makes money for the agency. The money that was going to used to purchase the sex is seized as evidence and can be awarded to the agency through court. On the subject of this being a waste of time, have any of you ever heard of the Green River Killer? He was a serial killer in Washington state who murdered numerous prostitutes. He was arrested twice on stings such as these before he was caught. Do you think the two prostitutes whose lives were spared because of those stings think they were a waste of time?

  If you look in the story a cop put up the ad to catch them, obviously. The point was pointed towards the rude people dissing the church. The church cannot help the actions of one man.   I will ponder over how quickly one so called Christian rejected a fellow Christian at their most weak and vulnerable time (I suppose that is just the way they are, seems like I can remember some other guy getting rejected by his 12 close friends when he was arrested and they even knew he was innocent). I will ponder how un-Christlike it is to get on a public forum and call a fellow church member a "nasty pig" and how one can aspire to be a "great Christian" while doing so. I'll ponder over the judgement of one so called Christian who is so scared of sex they need to be "protected" from people who engage in it. BTW, the "girl" he wanted to "treat like that" had put an ad on a website where people go to be "treated like that", I think you were probably pretty safe.   Hello, I am one of the youth students of Brian Wimberly who was our youth minister at first baptist church. I just want to say that a crime is a crime. Unveiling the truth of nasty pigs who want to treat girls like that is a great things that these police have done. It hurts so much to know MY YOUTH PASTOR has been arrested, but honestly, I am now safe and protected from someone like that. P.s. no one would have ever thought of him like this. He was seen as a great Christian man who we all aspired to be. Ponder over that for a moment.

  I would rather see police worry about taking the real criminals off the street! Really? This is not my idea of what Graves County needs to focus on! It looks like intrapment to me and they should focus on taking people off the street who rape, kill, molest and steal rather than wasting TAXPAYER money on something so minimal! Shouldn't police focus on the prescription drug problem we have in Kentucky? It is sad that is what police focus on instead of the "real" criminals! I am a taxpayer and I work hard for my money so I DO have a voice in how my money is spent and I don't have to move to voice my opinion of how better my money should be spent!
