The Mayfield-Graves County Tourism Commission this week unveils their fundraising effort Christmas Ornament. The ornament began as a fundraiser in 1995 and has run consecutively since then. The design of the ornament has changed through the years, each year depicting a local landmark. In 2012, the first year that Graves County joined the Mayfield Tourism Commission, the design was St. Jerome Church in Fancy Farm.

Through the years the design of the ornament has been the County Courthouse, the American Legion Post, Hall Hotel, the Ice House, Merit Clothing Company, Mayfield High School, Wollen Mill – Curlee Clothing, Wooldridge Monument, Edana Locus, Graves County High School, the Anderson House, Lon Carter Barton House, US Post Office, Little Castle, East Side of Mayfield Court Square, Newberry's Dime Store, City Hall, and last year was the old Cuba School.

The design this year is the old school at Fancy Farm, St. Jerome's. It was decided last year to commemorate the old schools throughout the county that are no longer used since the middle and high schools merged. So the design for future ornaments will be the old Farmington school, Lowes, Sedalia, Symsonia, and Wingo.

The ornaments will be for sale at the following locations in Mayfield: Ice House, City Hall, FNB Bank, Chamber, and First Community Bank in Fancy Farm. They will be available later this week until they are all sold out. There are a limited number of prior-year ornaments available for sale at the Ice House.

Mayfield Graves County Tourism Commission works to promote tourism in the City of Mayfield and Graves County. As a community we strive to hold on to our roots bur prepare for the future. Mayfield and Graves County has things to offer for all ages and is a great place for your family to visit.
