Graves DUI Checkpoint Yields Two Drug Arrests

Two men were arrested on drug and other charges Friday morning during a DUI checkpoint in Graves County.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says deputies were condicting a checkpoint around 10 a.m. at the intersection of KY 303 and KY 339. They said 36-year-old Mason Courtney of Water Valley and 34-year-old Eric Howry of Paducah were not wearing seat belts and deputies could reportedly smell alcohol inside the vehicle. Deputies also found that the car's registration was expired and Courtney had no insurance. Redmon said deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, a glass pipe, cash, pills, and other drug paraphernalia, along with two open bottles of alcohol in the car. 

Courtney was charged with failure to wear seat belt, open Container, first and third degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Marijuana, no insurance, expired registration, and possession of a controlled substance not in proper container. Howry was charged with failure to wear seat belt, open alcohol container, first and third degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of Marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance not in proper container.

Both men were booked into the to Graves County Jail.
