According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Hudson Road at 8:30 pm, after a family with four small children were playing in their yard, and the gunfire started.
The family reportedly fell to the ground in their front yard, in an effort to avoid being struck. They then ran into their home and called 911.
Deputies then responded to a nearby residence where it was thought the gunfire came from. They made contact with 31-year-old Javier Garcia.
Garcia admitted to drinking alcohol and firing off several rounds, using a rifle and a pistol. He said that he had been upset with the neighbor earlier, but did not fire the shots out of anger, and thought he was firing in a safe manner and direction.
Garcia was arrested and charged with six counts of wanton endangerment, his weapons were confiscated as evidence, and he was taken to the Graves County Jail.
