A Graves County man was arrested Sunday afternoon after a pursuit through two counties.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said a deputy saw a motorcycle disregard a stop sign at around 1 p.m. on State Route 131, nearly hitting a vehicle at an intersection.

When the deputy attempted to stop the bike, the driver, 37-year-old Derek Brown, sped away.

After a pursuit on several roads, the motorcycle wrecked on Old Lynn Grove Road in Calloway County.

After crashing the motorcycle, Brown ran toward a home on foot. Calloway County deputies chased him into a deep body of water and took him into custody.

Deputies said they found crystal methamphetamine on Brown during a search. He was taken to Murray Calloway County Hospital, and was later booked into the Calloway County Jail.

Several charges are pending against Brown in both Graves and Calloway counties.
