Graves Man Injured in Thursday Car Wreck

MAYFIELD, KY - A Mayfield man was injured Thursday in a one-vehicle accident in Graves County. According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened at approximately 12:15 pm at the intersection on KY 97 and Natchez Trace Road near Mayfield. 

Deputies said a vehicle driven by Robert L. Smith of Mayfield was southbound on KY 97 when for unknown reasons he ran off the west side of the road and struck a mailbox. He then struck a culvert, crossed the road and struck a road sign and a stop sign.

Smith’s vehicle then continued into a yard on Natchez Trace, struck a wooden fence and overturned resting on its roof. Smith was extricated by the Mayfield Fire Department and EMS. He was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
