Deputies determined that 55-year-old Ricky L. Langston of Mayfield had been westbound on KY 80 in a 1996 Kenworth semi. He crossed into the eastbound lane, ran off the roadway, through a yard at 1602 West Broadway and then ran into the southeast corner of a home.
Deputies and EMS personnel removed Langston from the truck and he was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment. He was later pronounced dead by the Graves County Coroner’s Office.
The investigation determined that Langston suffered a massive heart attack while operating the semi. After Langston suffered the heart attack the semi left the roadway and struck the house. No one was at the home at the time of the crash.
The house sustained damage to two exterior walls, the garage and the basement. The semi struck the house in the area of the electric meter base. West Kentucky RECC had to be called to the scene to shut off electricity running to the house before the semi could be removed by the towing company. The Kentucky Department of Environmental protection was also called to the scene due to a large amount of diesel fuel and motor oil that spilled in the yard of the home.
