Graves Traffic Stop Leads to Three Drug Arrests

Three people were arrested in Graves County on drug-related charges Sunday night. According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, the arrests came after deputies made a traffic stop on Broadway at 8th Street in Mayfield.

According to a press release, the deputy suspected the driver, 33-year-old David Fox of Madisonville, was under the influence of some type of illegal drugs. After several field sobriety tests, the deputy tried to arrest Fox but he took off on foot. He was later found hiding near a church and placed under arrest.

During a search of Fox's vehicle, police located a loaded .38 special under the left front seat. Deputies said the gun had the serial number removed from it. Deputies also allegedly found a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana and a pipe with apparent methamphetamine residue in the sunglass compartment of the vehicle.

In the console next to the two front seats, deputies reportedly found another .32 caliber handgun, which was also loaded. Deputies also located a backpack, which allegedly contained methamphetamine, scales, plastic baggies and other items. Deputies additionally recovered a large amount of cash from Fox at the time of his arrest.

Fox and his two passengers, 27-year-old Alexis Hibbs and 27-year-old Charles Compton, both of Madisonville, were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of a defaced firearm. Fox was additionally charged with DUI, fleeing or evading police and other traffic offenses. All three were lodged in the Graves County Jail.
