A special election concerning alcohol sales in Graves County is set for early next year.

Graves County Judge-Executive Jesse Perry has set a date of Tuesday, Jan. 26.

On Friday, the Graves County Clerk's office certified signatures on a petition filed earlier this month by the group, "Vote Graves County Wet." The petition contained more than 4,000 signatures. Graves County Clerk Barry Kennemore said his office verified 2,373 of the signatures, 152 more than what was required to hold the special election.

Kennemore has said the special election will cost taxpayers between $45,000-$50,000.
