Marshall Deputies Release Names in Fatal Wreck
By WestKyStar Staff
BENTON, KY - A deadly wreck in western Kentucky on Monday may have been the result of heavy rain. Authorities in Marshall County say the crash occured around 2:30 pm on U.S. Highway 68.

The Sheriff's Department says, a motorcycle, operated by 61-year-old Michael Wilkerson of Princeton, stopped prior to making a left turn off Highway 68. A truck, driven by 16-year-old Nash Canter of Mayfield, collided with the motorcycle. Heavy rainfall that caused slick roadways at the time is said to be why the truck was unable to stop.

Wilkerson and his passenger, 62-year-old Mary Wilkerson of Princeton, were thrown from the motorcycle.

Ambulances immediately transported the Wilkersons to Marshall County Hospital. A helicopter later transported Michael Wilkerson to another facillity. Mary Wilkerson was pronounced dead at the hospital. Canter and his three passengers were not injured in the crash.
