Help Clean Up During 'Ohio River Sweep' June 15
By West Kentucky Star Staff
The 2019 Ohio River Sweep is scheduled for Saturday, June 15, along the shorelines of the Ohio River and many of its tributaries. Volunteers from six states will remove tons of litter in just a few hours at more than 100 locations.
"Sweep volunteers are truly exceptional people. They are willing to pick up litter and get a little dirty in order to help our great resource - the Ohio River." said Lisa Cochran, program manager.

People who want to volunteer should visit to find the list of over 100 locations and then contact their local coordinator (see link below). Trash bags are provided and each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt.

Most volunteer teams will be gathering at 8:00 am or 9:00 am, and will work until around noon on June 15.
The Ohio River Sweep is organized by the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO) and other state and environmental agencies from Pennsylvania to Illinois. ORSANCO is the water pollution control agency for the Ohio River.
