The Livingston County Sheriff's Office "Cram the Cruiser" event is taking place through the month of September.

The cruiser will be in several locations through the month to provide opportunities to donate non-perishable food items. All items will stay in the county and be distributed by Helping Hands in Smithland.

The cruiser will begin the event at 8:00 am on September 1 at the Salem Food Market in Salem, where it will remain until September 9.

The cruiser will then be at the Smithland Dollar General store September 10 through 16th.  It will move to Poppy's Meat Shop in Ledbetter from September 17 through 23, then relocate to the Lake City Dollar General Store September 24 through 30.

The Sheriff's Department is hoping to make the food drive a friendly competition between communities to see who can donate the most food.

Sheriff Bobby Davidson said that the event exceeded their expectations last year. He asked everyone to give what they can and to remember that every little bit helps.
