GOLDEN POND - STEAM Inspired Woodlands Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes will feature STEAM inspired lessons on Homeschoolers Day, April 26.

The event will take place from 10 am to 3 pm on Friday, April 26. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and up; $3 ages 5 -12; and free for 4 and under.

LBL will launch into the earth sciences with engaging educational programs and activities based around this year’s theme – Mission: Earth. Dive into STEAM inspired lessons exploring everything from Archaeology to Astronomy. They are also welcoming special guests from the Ben E. Clement Mineral museum, West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers, Maggie Morgan from the Jackson Purchase Foundation, and Land Between the Lakes archaeologists.

Missions and activities run from 10 am-3 pm. Join the LBL crew as they explore all the wonders of home planet. Organizers recommend planning at least a 3-hour visit to experience all the day has to offer.


Scheduled programs are:
Watered Down
10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. 
Dive into the water cycle with Maggie Morgan from the Jackson Purchase Foundation.

Weather or Not 
11 am and 1 pm 
Learn the FUNdamentals of weather.

Animal Magnetism
Noon and 2 pm 
Explore how animals use the Earth's magnetic field.

Ongoing activities will include:
Check the Date
LBL Archaeologists will teach you about carbon dating.

Can You Dig It?
Learn the difference between rocks and minerals with assistance from the Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum.

Earth, Wind and Fire
Discover how fire is sometimes necessary for a healthy forest.

Far Out
Learn about astronomy with the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers.

Fly Like the Wind
Make your own anemometer.

Interstellar Art 
Create your own planet.

Fourth grade students can go to https://everykidinapark.gov/, get their free Every Kid in a Park pass, and get their family in for free. For more information, call the Nature Station at 270-0924-2299.
