By WestKyStar Staff
WESTERN KY; SOUTHERN IL - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Illinois Department of Transportation plan joint walk-through inspections of shared Ohio River bridges over the next two weeks. These inspections are to allow engineers to discuss and plan future maintenance projects on shared river crossings that connect the two states.

These inspections will require traffic restrictions to accommodate the work on the follow schedule:

Wednesday, August 8th

The US 51/US 60/US 62 Ohio River Bridge between Wickliffe & Cairo starting at 9:00 am, and lasting until about noon.

The Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah & Metropolis from 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

Thursday, August 9th

The US 45 Ohio River Bridge (Irvin Cobb Bridge) between Paducah & Brookport from  8:00 - 11:00 am.

KY 56/Illinois Route 13 Ohio River Bridge at Shawneetown starting from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Motorists should be aware of these planned joint walk-through bridge inspections. Motorists are advised to be alert for lane restrictions required to accommodate the work. Caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and inspection personnel are on the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
