PADUCAH, KY - The unusually hot weather affecting the region over the past weeks has taken its toll on residents, as well as record books.  

The National Weather Service has confirmed that July was the warmest month on record for Paducah. Evansville and Cape Girardeau also came very close to achieving record temperature averages for the month.

At Paducah the average temperature of 84.5 degrees broke the previous record average temperature of 84.2, set in July of 1993.
 
July tied the warmest month on record at Cape Girardeau. The average temperature of 83.6 tied two other months for warmest month on record (July of 1980 and July of 1993).

The record average temperature was not broken at Evansville, but July was tied for the second warmest month on record there. 

Evansville's record warmest month was July of 1936, with an average temp of 85.1. A record was set for average daily high temperature, which was 97.3 degrees in July. The old record was 96.0, set in July of 1936 and tied in August of 2007.

Prediction models suggest that the hot, dry weather pattern will continue to dominate the region for the foreseeable future.
