Kentucky State Police, along with local law enforcement and the mother of Trooper Joseph "Cameron" Ponder, gathered on Wednesday to remember the fallen trooper.

Trooper Ponder was fatally shot on September 13, 2015 while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.  Shortly thereafter, a flagpole was erected at the site of the shooting. Around the flagpole, many flowers and other remembrances have been placed over the past two years.

On Wednesday, on the 2nd anniversary, KSP gathered with fellow law enforcement family and Cameron’s mother, to place a wreath in remembrance of Trooper Ponder’s life and sacrifice.

Prior to the wreath laying, at 9:54 a.m., KSP observed a moment of silence in memory of Trooper Ponder, whose unit number was 954.
