KYTC Crews Plan for Second Round of Winter Weather
By West Kentucky Star Staff
WESTERN KENTUCKY - With the first round of winter weather behind us this week, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 crews are preparing for yet another round of winter precipitation.

During the first round of heavy snow this week, KYTC says crews focused primarily on A Snow Priority Routes, which includes interstates, parkways, US highways, and some other four-lane roads. Crews will likely continue that strategy during the second round of snow expected Wednesday and Thursday, depending on snowfall accumulation amounts.

Where possible, some crews were able to do some plowing on B and C Snow Priority Routes, and crews plan to continue those activities on Wednesday morning as the approaching snow system is developing.

Highway crews will continue working 13-hour shifts for the remainder of the week with shift changes at midnight and noon each day. Approximately 20 contract trucks will be on the road in addition to the KYTC District 1 plow fleet.
