Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area recently recognized Bob and Judy Peak and Ray Stainfield for their volunteer service contributions through the Friends of Land Between The Lakes. The Peaks have installed, maintained, and monitored 170 bluebird nesting boxes in the Land Between The Lakes area.

In their 25+ years of service, more than 30,000 bluebirds have fledged from the nesting boxes. They have averaged 500 volunteer hours per year for the past 5 years. Mr. Stainfield has 14 years of volunteer service. Some of his volunteer projects include surveying wintering and nesting bald eagles in Land Between The Lakes, serving as Lead Bugle Corps Interpreter at the Elk & Bison Prairie, and sharing his excellent wildlife photography, including the bison cow with calf photo used on the welcome signs at Land Between The Lakes on US68/KY80. He has averaged more than 800 hours a year for the past 5 years.

“We appreciate all the hard work and dedication of Bob, Judy, and Ray,” said Tina Tilley, Area Supervisor. “Because of their efforts and accomplishments, and others like them, we are successful in providing the American public with the services we have been charged to provide.”
