MEMPHIS, TN - This spring and summer, the Mid-south has experienced below normal rainfall, and the Mississippi River is projected to reach low water conditions that may negatively affect some operations at facilities and industries along the Mississippi River.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants operators of river facilities and industries to know that in order to minimize the impact of their operation, a permit from the Department of the Army may be required, under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and/or Section 404 of the Clean Water Act of 1972.
 
In order to expedite any permitting applications prompted by low water conditions, operators are asked to contact the Memphis District's Regulatory Branch and at a minimum, provide the following information:

* Applicant and facility name.
* Location map with coordinates.
* Name and number of existing Corps permits (if available).
* Project details and proposed project purpose.
