Lyon Co. Man Hospitalized after Car Accident

A Lyon County man was hospitalized after a single-car accident Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police reported that 47-year-old Jay Newell of Eddyville was traveling on KY 810 North when he car left the right side of the roadway, went down an embankment and struck an earthen ditch and utility pole guide wire. Newell was extricated from the vehicle by Lyon County Rescue and the Eddyville and Kuttawa Fire Departments.

He was then transported to Western Baptist Hospital by Lyon County EMS. A dog in the vehicle was uninjured and taken by the Lyon County Animal Control Officer for short term care.

The accident was investigated by KSP Trooper First Class Lewie Dodd.
