By West Kentucky Star Staff
MURRAY - The sexual abuse case against a Murray State University Police officer will be heard by a grand jury.

Court records show Calloway County Circuit Court Judge Randall Hutchens found probable cause in a Thursday hearing to move forward with the case against 39-year-old Mark Johnson.

State Police arrested Johnson July 19 on a charge of first degree sexual abuse. The alleged abuse reportedly happened in Johnson's home, and involved a 24-year-old woman who is not a student. Johnson has been placed on administrative leave since his arrest.

The next Calloway County grand jury is set to convene Sept. 18.
