A McCracken County man was arrested Friday after a vehicle and foot pursuit in Mayfield.
According to Kentucky State Police, a trooper on patrol saw a vehicle run a stop sign while turning from Kentucky Highway 1748 onto US Highway 45. The trooper turned on his lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop, but said the driver sped away and passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. The driver attempted to elude police by turning onto Pritchett Road and then pulling into a driveway, but the vehicle struck an embankment. The man tried to run away, but was caught and arrested a short distance away.
Thirty-three-year-old Mark Basham was arrested for DUI 1st offense, fleeing or evading police 1st degree in a vehicle, fleeing or evading police 2nd degree on foot, disregarding a stop sign, improper passing and possession of an open alcoholic drink in a vehicle.
Basham was taken to Graves County Jail.
