A Christian County man has been charged with using social media to arrange to have sex with a minor.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the agency's Electronic Crime Branch arrested 57-year-old Kevin Harris Tuesday on charges of prohibited use of electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer re: sex offenses, sex offender instant message/chat/social network use and possession of firearm by convicted felon.

Detectives said they began the investigation after being contacted by investigators with the Avery County Sheriff's Department in North Carolina and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, who had two separate investigations dealing with Harris communicating and planning to meet minors to engage in sexual activity.

Police executed a search warrant Tuesday at Harris' home and seized equipment allegedly used to facilitate the crime.

Harris was booked into the Christian County Detention Center.
