A man was taken to a local hospital Saturday night after what law enforcement calls an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a business parking lot about 11 pm and found Christopher Adam Morris of Water Valley had been shot. He was taken to Baptist Health Paducah to be treated for injuries to his leg and foot.

Deputies say they determined that Morris was "highly intoxicated," and the injuries from a 9mm handgun were accidental and self-inflicted.

The investigation continues, and deputies say charges are pending.

Kentucky State Police assisted at the scene.
