BENTON, KY - A Marshall County man is dead, and another charged with murder, after a shooting Friday afternoon.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to 2300 Griggstown Road at about 3:30 pm, and found 32-year-old Darryl Domingue of Calvert City had been struck by a round fired from a 12-gauge shotgun. After interviewing others at the scene, deputies took the home owner, 55-year-old Billy Don Greer, into custody.
Investigation showed that Domingue and his wife, Carrie, were at the home visiting Greer. Carrie Domingue went into the home, and came back out to find her husband and Greer fighting in the garage. She urged her husband to leave, and walked to their vehicle. When Darryl Domingue stood up and began walking to the vehicle, Greer came out of the garage with the shotgun, and fired twice, hitting Domingue in the upper torso with one round.
Marshall County Ambulance took Domingue to Marshall County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the coroner. Greer has been charged with murder, and was taken to Marshall County Detention Center. Reports indicate that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
Others responding or assisting at the scene include Benton Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, Palma-Briensburg Fire Department, Marshall County Rescue Squad, and Lakeland Red Cross.
