Mayfield Crash Leaves Two Injured

MAYFIELD, KY - A two-vehicle crash Friday in Mayfield left two people injured.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, the collision happened just before noon at the intersection of North Street and North 7th Street. Police said a vehicle driven by 78-year-old Helen McKinney was traveling north on North 7th Street, when she ran a red light and struck another vehicle, driven by 64-year-old Frances Waid.

McKinney's vehicle then struck a utility pole's support wire, and overturned on its side. McKinney was trapped inside the vehicle until Mayfield/Graves County EMS could free her.

McKinney and Waid were both transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
