A Mayfield High School student won a car Thursday, thanks to having perfect attendance at school.

Griselda Ramirez, a freshman at MHS, was the lucky winner of a 2015 Nissan Altima during a drawing at Seay Motors in Mayfield. Larry Seay, owner of Seay Motors, hosted the drawing.

At the beginning of the school year, Seay and both Mayfield and Graves County high schools announced that students with perfect attendance for a nine-weeks period would be registered for the drawing. The more nine-weeks perfect attendance periods a student earned, the more times his or her name would be entered in the drawings.

Seay said the car is valued at $15,000 and that he will pay the tax and license. He offered to put that same amount of money into a college fund for Ramirez, but she said she wants the car. She just turned 16 in October.
