A disturbance at a local motel led to a man's arrest on kidnapping and other charges.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, officers responded to the Budget Inn Thursday in reference to a woman in distress. Upon arrival, police spoke with the woman, who said 30-year-old AJ Jackson of Mayfield had assaulted her.

The woman told police that she and Jackson had gotten into a verbal argument and he became physical with her, allegedly leaving cuts and bruises on her. The woman told police she tried to leave the room several times but Jackson refused to let her leave.

When police arrived at the motel, Jackson fled the scene. He was found a short time later on North 2nd Street and arrested. He's charged with 4th degree assault, three or more in less than five years, kidnapping and violation of an EPO/DVO.

Jackson was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
