Mayfield Man Jailed on Meth Charges After Pursuit

MAYFIELD - A traffic stop in Mayfield Sunday night led to a man's arrest on methamphetamine and other charges.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office said a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Barton Road at Paris Road at around 9:30 pm. When the vehicle stopped, one of the back seat passengers fled from the vehicle on foot.

The deputy pursued the man behind KFC, through the parking lot of Big Lots and into a residential area before taking him into custody.

Twenty-four-year-old James Anthony Vasquez of Mayfield was arrested and lodged in the Graves County Jail. He's charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing or evading police.
