Two Mayfield residents were arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office says a deputy went to a home in the 1000 block of Slaughter Road to attempt to serve a civil paper. When the deputy arrived at the home, he found Derek Brown and Ashley Dixon, both of Mayfield, sitting in a truck in the driveway of one of the apartments.

When the deputy made contact with Brown, he reportedly acted very suspiciously. Deputies say they spotted counterfeit currency in the truck Brown and Dixon were in. During a search of the vehicle, deputies seized methamphetamine, marijuana, Xanax pills, brass knuckles, numerous drug paraphernalia items and numerous empty baggies believed to be used in the illegal sale and distribution of illegal drugs. Deputies also seized over $4,400 in cash.

Both Brown and Dixon were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Both were lodged in the Graves County Jail.
