Two people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop Thursday morning in Mayfield.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said deputies stopped a car for speeding on KY 80 East. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found several bottles of prescription medication.

Deputies said one of the bottles had an altered label. Inside that bottle, deputies reportedly found several oxycodone tablets.

Deputies arrested the driver, 40-year-old Jason Hammons of Princeton and his passenger, 40-year-old Amie Bennett of Kirksey. Hammons allegedly admitted to police that he was involved in the trafficking of a controlled substance.

Hammons was charged with trafficking controlled substance and speeding. Bennett was charged with possession of controlled substance and prescription not in the proper container.

Both were lodged in the Graves County Jail.
