Mayfield Traffic Stop Leads to Drug, Other Charges

MAYFIELD - A traffic stop in Mayfield on Tuesday led to the arrest of two people on drug and other charges.

An officer with the Mayfield Police Department stopped a vehicle at the intersection of North 2nd Street and North Street for an alleged traffic violation.

According to the officer, a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Andrew Saxton, jumped out of the vehicle and fled. He was quickly detained.

Authorties say Saxton had an active warrant for his arrest and was found to be in possession of illegal drugs.

Officers learned that the driver, 20-year-old Ashley Barbarotto, also had an active warrant for her arrest.

A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered more illegal drugs.

Saxton was served with the arrest warrant and additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second degree fleeing or evading (on foot), and possession of marijuana.

Barbarotto was served with the arrest warrant and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were both lodged in the Graves County Jail.
