Memphis Man Jailed After Two-State Chase

A Memphis, TN man was arrested Thursday after a police pursuit that crossed state lines.

According to Kentucky State Police, the Henry County, TN Sheriff’s Department contacted troopers Thursday about a pursuit in progress, heading north on US 641 into Kentucky. During the pursuit with Henry County, the suspect reportedly hit a Sheriff’s vehicle. 

Troopers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it about three miles south of Murray.  The vehicle failed to stop, and continued toward Murray. Once in Murray, the vehicle slowed down and turned on several city streets. The driver reportedly rammed a Calloway County Sheriff’s Department vehicle at the intersection of Fairlane and South 9th street, injuring the deputy and ending the pursuit.    

Police arrested the suspect, 25-year-old Marcus D. Etheridge of Memphis. Etheridge was charged him with 1st degree assault of a police officer, 1st degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, 1st degree fleeing or evading, DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended/ revoked license, reckless driving, and other traffic offenses.

Etheridge was booked into the Calloway County Detention Center.
