Mid-Continent Reschedules Saturday Games
By MCU Sports Information
MAYFIELD, KY - The Mid-Continent University athletic department has announced that Saturday’s games against Blue Mountain College have been postponed to a later time slot, with the tip-off of the women’s game now scheduled for 6 pm and the men’s game for 8 pm. The double-header of women’s and men’s college basketball action has been pushed back to allow for those who wish to attend the funeral of Tye Jackson – Mid-Continent’s Director of Campus Security who passed away earlier this week, and who had been on staff with several western Kentucky law enforcement agencies over the years.
“When we found out that Tye had passed away, we began immediately planning for the possibility that his funeral might take place in the time slot that had previously been allotted for the Senior Day basketball games,” explained Mid-Continent Athletic Director Kevin Imhoff. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tye, and we knew that many in our community would want to attend his funeral service, including a lot of people who attend most of our basketball games. This will allow those who wish to attend both to do so. Simply put, it was the right thing to do, given the circumstances.”
“We would also like to express our gratitude to Blue Mountain College for being willing to work with us to move the tip-off times under such difficult circumstances. In addition, we thank Mayfield and Trigg County High Schools for working with us to swap time slots on Saturday. Both Schools have been very gracious in moving their game to ensure that we are able to still hold our Senior Night on a weekend when more family members can attend.”
The game date changes will also turn Senior Day festivities into Senior Night festivities. Senior Night will still take place between the two Blue Mountain games, which will now be at approximately 7:45 pm.
