Mistrial Declared in Claude Russell Murder Trial
By WestKyStar Staff
CADIZ, KY - Claude Russell won't be heading to jail anytime soon. A judge declared a mistrial Monday night after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
According to WKDZ, jurors deliberated nearly 10 hours before returning around 9:40 pm to tell Trigg Circuit Judge C.A. Woodall III they were still at an impasse in trying to reach a verdict.
Russell was accused of murdering Chantell Humphries in 2002. Investigators first arrested Russell in 2002, but later dropped those charges because of a lack of evidence.
He was re-arrested this past July.
