The mild winter so far looks to finish on a similar note, as temperatures in the 70s are forecast well into the last full week of February.

According to the National Weather Service office in Paducah, a predicted high of 71 degrees on Sunday would tie the record set for the date in 1994.

On Monday, the high temperature could reach 74 degrees. That would tie another daily record, last reached in 2011.

A rainy Tuesday should keep temperatures in the 60s, but sunshine again on Wednesday is expected to bring an afternoon high of 71, just one degree shy of the 1992 mark of 72.

Even the overnight lows could set marks for being the warmest ever; Tuesday's anticipated morning low of 55 would be well above the warmest low for that date of 49 set in 1983.

As of Monday, we'll be one month away from the first day of spring when the sun moves back over the equator to shine directly on the northern hemisphere.
