State highway maintenance crews and contractors will be increasing their mowing activities along area highways starting on Monday. Crews will be mowing along interstates, parkways, and U.S. highways, as well as many rural secondary highways.

One crew will start at the Ohio River Bridge on Interstate 24 and work eastward. Once all 93 miles of I-24 are complete they will move to the Purchase Parkway, with a goal of finishing by about the first week of August.

Crews will work during daylight hours anytime the weather allows. Litter pickup crews will be working in advance of mowing crews along major routes.Slow down and be watchful when driving through a mowing zone, since crews often have to cross travel lanes to do their work.
