Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital Takes Time Out Pledge
By WestKyStar Staff
MURRAY, KY - For children, a "Time Out" usually happens because they made a mistake. For hospital staff, a "Time Out" helps prevent mistakes.
Staff in the Outpatient Surgery department at Murray-Calloway County Hospital participated by signing a “Time Out” pledge as part of National Time Out Day on Wednesday, June 13.
The campaign aims to promote the Time Out, which is a period of time before surgery when members of the perioperative team make sure everything is ready and correct before beginning the operation. This helps guard against wrong site, wrong procedure and wrong person surgery and is endorsed by the Joint Commission, the World Health Organization and the Council on Surgery and Perioperative Safety.
