Staff at Murray-Calloway County Hospital and the Center for Health & Wellness will be offering educational health promotion events during the month of June to community members, Wellness Center members and MCCH employees.
A free Hearing Loss Workshop will be held Tuesdays in June (4, 11, 18 and 25) from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Center for Health and Wellness. Susan Brown, the clinical audiologist at the Murray State University Speech and Hearing Clinic, and four of her graduate students are offering a class on ways to improve understanding for people with hearing problems. They will teach different communication strategies, practice speech reading and learn tips that have worked for many others. This workshop is being offered for adults with hearing loss and their significant others. Individuals are welcome to come on their own, but often the best benefits come from attending with someone you have difficulty hearing. A spouse, child or good friend can learn what they can do to help the person with hearing loss understand better.
Registration is required and space is limited. For more information or to register, call Brown at 270‐809‐6821 or email her at brown1@murraystate.edu.

A free nutrition education event titled “Ice Cream 101” will be held Friday, June 21 from 10-10:30 a.m. in the Center for Health and Wellness. Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean you have to give up everything you love to eat. Maintaining healthy lifestyle changes requires you to learn how to enjoy the things you love in a new and healthy way. Join Rebecca Wright, Registered Dietitian, and learn how you can incorporate an American favorite, ice cream, into a healthy lifestyle.
Looking ahead to July, a Living Well Workshop is planned to help those struggling with chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, etc. Call 270-762-1348 for more information.
