A man arrested in the fall of 2016 has been convicted on rape and sodomy charges.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Ray Powers was found guilty on Friday by a Calloway Circuit Court Jury.

The charges were among several that Powers faces from an investigation that began in September of 2016. Kentucky State Police received a tip that Powers, who was already a convicted felon, had multiple weapons. Their investigation led to the discovery of 18 long guns, 8 handguns, body armor, explosives paraphernalia, and a substantial amount of ammunition. He was arrested on multiple counts related to possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

Two days later, police added more charges related to marijuana trafficking and possession.

On October 8, 2016, after following more leads in their investigation, troopers arrested Powers again, this time for rape, sodomy, incest, and tampering with evidence.

The trial that led to Friday's verdict was only related to the sex-related offenses. Police say the drug and weapons charges are still pending in Calloway Circuit Court.
