A teacher at Murray Middle School has been suspended until the end of the year after an incident with a student.

According to WKMS, music teacher Charles Haney was suspended with pay in November, but that suspension has been extended through the rest of the year while an investigation takes place.

The radio station got a copy of the suspension letter in an  open records request. The letter from Superintendent Coy Samons cites, “circumstances alleged to have occurred” involving Haney and a student.

Calloway County Attorney Bryan Ernstberger told WKMS that his review of the preliminary investigation don't show anything that constitutes criminal conduct, but there may be new information that comes to light.

Haney has taught at the school since 1994, but hasn't commented on the suspension.
