A Murray woman went to the hospital Sunday morning after a collision with a deer on I-24.

The Kentucky State Police says troopers responded at around 5:30 a.m. to the crash at the 38 mile marker. The investigation reportedly showed 21-year-old Samantha Hamilton of Murray was driving eastbound in the left lane when a deer appeared from the median and went onto the roadway. Hamilton's vehicle then struck the deer head on.

A passenger in the vehicle, 41-year-old Sara Johnson complained of pain to her left side and was taken to Caldwell County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said both women were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
