New Calvert Track Owners Ready for Racing

The new owners of the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway say they would like racing to resume at the dormant dirt track in western Kentucky.
 
Hopkinsville businessmen Ronnie Jones and Jim Hale made the comments to The Paducah Sun after submitting the winning bid for the track, which was auctioned late last month. Jones and Hale bid $990,000 for the Calvert City track and an adjoining 317-acre property that is not yet developed.
 
The speedway hasn't had regular usage in about three years, but both men said the location of the track near Interstate 24 played a part in their decision to bid.
 
Jones owns Jones Bros. Towing & Trucking Inc. and Hale owns Randolph-Hale Electronics. They say they want to improve the track and make it a benefit to the community.
