A former city clerk and her husband will remain behind bars while the forgery case against them plays out in court, after a judge denied them bond on Wednesday.

Former Kuttawa City Clerk Katie Harrison and her husband, Clayton Harrison were arraigned Wednesday in Lyon County District Court. Court records show Katie Harrison is charged with 24 counts of second degree forgery. Clayton Harrison faces 10 counts of second degree possession of a forged instrument. All of the charges in the case are felonies, and were brought following an investigation into missing funds at the office where Katie Harrison served as city clerk.

Judge Jamus Redd assigned a public defender to the Harrisons. He also denied the pair bond, after Lyon County Attorney Lee Wilson argued that they both presented a flight risk.

The Harrisons were arrested late last month in Sevier County, TN. Both remain in custody at the Caldwell County Jail.
