According to Mayfield police, the stabbing took place around 7pm Tuesday on Anderson Avenue. Police said 65-year-old Raymond Burnett was found laying in his yard with multiple stab wounds. Burnett was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and then life-flighted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where he later died.
Police found 24-year-old Christopher Dickson of Mayfield a few blocks away from the crime scene with the knife still in his hand. Police said the knife had blood on it. Dickson was arrested and charged with assault.
Police said that charge will be upgraded to murder. He's lodged in the Graves County Jail.
