One Killed, Five Hurt in Graves County Crash

MAYFIELD, KY - One person is dead following a one-vehicle accident Sunday night in Graves County. According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened at approximately 9:30 pm on State Route 97 at Haymarket Corner.

Deputies said an SUV driven by Debbie Teems of Mayfield was traveling north when her vehicle left the roadway, hit an earth embankment and then side-swiped a tree. Teems was transported to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

A passenger, 85-year-old Notie B. Washburn of Mayfield, was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, then later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Four other passengers in the SUV, Kelly Dunn, James Dunn and Robert Hebert, all of Mayfield, and a juvenile, were all taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Deputies said the juvenile was the only one wearing a seat belt and speed was a primary factor in the accident.
