UPDATE: Due to weather conditions, crews were unable to complete the barrier wall Tuesday night.

To avoid the potential for traffic delays during the Memorial Day holiday driving period, KYTC says the contractor has moved the nighttime barrier wall installation to Wednesday, June 1 starting at 8:00 pm.

A contractor for The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close the right lane of Interstate 24 east in Marshall County Tuesday night and Wednesday morning for installation of a temporary concrete barrier.

The contractor plans to close the right lane of I-24 east where exit 52A from the northbound Purchase Parkway merges with I-24 east at Calvert City. The closure is expected to last from 8:00 pm Tuesday to 6:00 am Wednesday. The closure is reportedly necessary to install a temporary concrete wall along the shoulder in preparation for construction of a bridge as part of the I-69 corridor project.

Drivers should expect delays and are advised to approach and travel through the work zone with caution.
