The full executive committee of the Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization will meet today at the PADD office in Mayfield to discuss efforts to help soon-to-be displaced USEC workers move to new jobs.
On May 24, USEC announced that it would be closing down over the next year. The Paducah Sun reports the group has been preparing for the closure for about 15 years.
The PACRO board does not have a concrete plan established, but has been making efforts to attract and retain jobs in the region, officials told the Sun. The board has set up a revolving loan fund for several years to assist new companies in their development in the Purchase Area and members plan to set up a center to provide employment help directly to Paducah plant workers.
Both the finance committee and full executive committee, which usually meets quarterly, will meet today at the PADD office in Mayfield at 2:30 p.m.
